چکیده

There are two principal impediments in statistical process control methods for the detection of bio-terrorism events: firstly, these methods aggregate over space by examining total counts and thus ignore the spatial dimension of the task and secondly they fail to adjust for the usual (seasonal) behaviour of diseases (e.g., Steiner et al., 2011 where the focus is early detection of the start of influenza outbreak). If disease outbreaks were expected to be spread relatively uniformly in space, then the former reason is unimportant. However, since bioterrorism attacks are likely to be introduced to specifically targeted locations, then the resulting disease instances are likely to cluster in space. Consequently, monitoring total counts is likely to reduce the signal-to-noise ratio of this outbreak by aggregating over regions where there is no outbreak. Exploiting the spatial clustering should be able to provide additional power and efficiency in detecting the outbreak.

Assessment of Neonate's Congenital Hypothyroidism Pattern Using Poisson Spatio-temporal Model in Disease Mapping under the Bayesian Paradigm during 2011-18 in Guilan, Iran

Background: Congenital Hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the reasons for mental retardation and defective growth in neonates. It can be treated if it is diagnosed early. The congenital hypothyroidism can be diagnosed using newborn screening in the first days after birth. Disease mapping helps to identify high-risk areas of the disease. This study aimed to evaluate the pattern of CH using the Poisso...

A Bayesian spatio-temporal method for disease outbreak detection

A system that monitors a region for a disease outbreak is called a disease outbreak surveillance system. A spatial surveillance system searches for patterns of disease outbreak in spatial subregions of the monitored region. A temporal surveillance system looks for emerging patterns of outbreak disease by analyzing how patterns have changed during recent periods of time. If a non-spatial, non-te...

Spatio-temporal Analysis of Myocardial Infarction in an Iranian Military Community During the Period 2015-2018

Background and Aim: Myocardial infarction (MI) is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. This disease imposes a high socio-economic burden on patients. Since the Spatio-temporal analysis of diseases plays an essential role in the design of prevention and management programs. The present study aimed to identify regional clusters of MI and also analyze the time trend of the disease amo...

Spatio-temporal agent based simulation of COVID-19 disease and investigating the effect of vaccination (case study: Urmia)

Proper management of epidemic diseases such as Covid-19 is very important because of its effects on the economy, culture and society of nations. By applying various control strategies such as closing schools, restricting night traffic and mass vaccination program, the spread of this disease has been somewhat controlled but not completely stopped. The main goal of this research is to provide a f...

Spatio-temporal analysis of infectious disease outbreaks in veterinary medicine: clusters, hotspots and foci.

Analysis of disease data that has an implicit spatio-temporal component (such as disease outbreaks, data generated by surveillance systems and specific hypothesis-based veterinary field research) is a foundation of veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine. Components of this process include exploratory spatial data analysis (finding interesting patterns), visualisation (showing interesti...

A Survey of Visual Traffic Surveillance Using Spatio-Temporal Analysis and Mining

The focus of this survey is on spatio-temporal data mining and database retrieval for visual traffic surveillance systems. In many traffic surveillance applications, such as incident detection, abnormal events detection, vehicle speed estimation, and traffic volume estimation, the data used for reasoning is really in the form of spatio-temporal data (e.g. vehicle trajectories). How to effective...
